Serhiy Cherskoy – leader, volunteer, human rights defender

Acting Chairman of the NGO “World Association for Countering Terrorism” Serhiy Cherskoy received another award from the Donetsk police for his active volunteer work and support of Ukrainian human rights defenders.

Since the outbreak of war in 2014, Mr. Cherskoy has focused his efforts on helping the victims and supporting Ukrainian human rights defenders working in the hottest spots of the country. His activities include humanitarian aid, coordination of volunteer initiatives and provision of specialists with everything necessary for their work.

The police of Donetsk region, which has been protecting the rights and safety of civilians for 11 years, has repeatedly received modern personal protective equipment, generators and heating systems from Sergey Cherskaya. In addition, he and the volunteers repaired vehicles used to evacuate civilians from the shelling zone.

Recognition and further mission

The award is yet another confirmation of the dedication and effectiveness of Mr. Cherskoy’s work. His contribution to human rights activities, support for victims and assistance to civilians is an important step towards a safe and just society.
